What is Doxycycline?

Doxycycline is an Antibiotic from Tetracycline group, that kills or stops the multiplication of fixed infection-causing bacterias in human body. Tetracycline produced by certain sepcies of the fungus Streptomyces. Tetracycline drugs (also known as broad-spectrum antibiotics) are effective against much  types of bacteria.

Doxycycline is used in the treatment of infections of the skin, stomach, bone, sinus, respiratory tract,  ear, and urinary tract. Also in certain sexually transmitted diseases (chlamydia and gonorrhea) can also be treated with Doxycycline.

Doxycycline is also recommended for the treatment of Anthrax. FDA issued a Public Health Advisory concerning the use of Doxycycline for Anthrax exposure.
